Scenic Casey Key and Nokomis Beach

Casey Key, with its family-friendly public Nokomis Beach at the south end (famous for its weekly drum circle), is unique among the barrier islands of this part of southwest Florida. It is an extremely narrow key; long, in comparison to its neighbors, and has portions where the elevation is much higher than neighboring keys. There are many portions where you can drive right along the water, whether it be the wide-open Gulf of Mexico, or the Intracoastal Waterway with a view of the Sarasota mainland. You can find it all here, from original Florida beach houses of "Pecky" Cypress wood, to multi-million dollar luxury homes. Many properties are Gulf-To-Bay, meaning they include land and structures on both sides of the main road that bisects the key lengthwise. Casey Key is a magical place! This is where some celebrities come to kick back and blend in with the locals.
