Jeffrey K. ("Jeff") O'Berry, ABR®, AHWD®, SRES®, CIPS
Many people have heard of The Florida Keys at the southern tip of Florida: Key Largo, Marathon, Key West, etc. But do you know about The Other Florida Keys? They're a breathtaking string of keys along Florida's west coast, beginning at the southern end of Tampa Bay and stretching southward down through Manatee, Sarasota and Charlotte counties: Anna Maria Island, Longboat Key, Lido Key, Bird Key, Siesta Key, Casey Key and Manasota Key. These are my areas of expertise.
Now, let me tell you a bit about myself. I have a bachelor's degree in Public Relations/Mass Communications from the University of South Florida (USF) and the professional real estate designations of Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR®), At Home With Diversity (AHWD®), Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES®) and I am a Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS).
I am a fifth-generation Floridian and a lifelong resident of Florida. My ancestors were pioneers of Pasco County (north of Tampa). I grew up in Temple Terrace, a suburb on the east side of Tampa. My idyllic youth included spending summers on Anna Maria Island, going to Island Sundries or IGA for ice cream and Coppertone, spending all day barefoot on the beach, playing in the neighborhood around the current-day Sandbar Restaurant or going over to the City Pier. My family moved to Anna Maria permanently when I was in high school and I had the run of the island using the beach as the route to everywhere, if not on my bike or in my car.
A seemingly mundane visit from friends of my parents planted a seed of fascination which led to life-changing experiences. Their friends had an exchange student from Chile who they brought with them during this visit. The teen-aged young exchange student showed a much younger version of myself the foreign coins he had in his pocket. As we looked through them all, I was mesmerized by them. This proved to be one of my earliest memories of the many different ways other people live. That seminal experience ultimately led to me studying Spanish. I then had the good fortune to be accepted to the prestigious, international, educational, independent non-profit musical program, Up With People. There, I made lifelong friendships with people from all over the world and a better understanding of people, cultures and customs around the world.
Later I lived on Siesta Key for 9 years, where I enjoyed living steps from the beach. I also enjoyed bike riding through the interesting neighborhoods on the key and coming home from work and taking a relaxing walk on the beach and staying to watch the sun set.
Over the years, I also lived in Orlando, St. Petersburg, Bradenton, Ellenton and owned a home in Key West. I have lived in Sarasota since 1992 and owned the popular Nifty Nic Nacs gift shop in downtown Venice for 12 years. So I know the area!
I am a member of the Global Business Council of the REALTOR® Association of Sarasota and Manatee which provides me with training, seminars and expertise in dealing with international clients. In addition, I have obtained CIPS designation -- Certified International Property Specialist -- from the National Association of Realtors® (NAR). I have world-wide resources for locating properties around the world, and can help customers from outside the United States buy property here in Florida. (I love to travel, and have been fortunate to travel through much of the United States in addition to travel in Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, The Bahamas, Sweden, Belgium, Italy, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.)
Now, as your REALTOR®, I provide a "local's perspective" to potential buyers and sellers. Because of my early background in sales and public relations, I know image is very important. That's why I associated with Coldwell Banker, the world's largest real estate firm. I carefully match prospective buyers and sellers to properties that will allow them to achieve their dreams. I can make your property shine in the eyes of a world of Coldwell Banker buyers. Or, I can guide you throughout the amazing properties in southwest Florida's beautiful paradise to find that perfect property for you to buy.
In true Florida form, I am casual, easy-going and friendly. Get your sandals, shorts, hat or sundress ready and let me be your suncoast Florida expert and provide you with truly remarkable service.
My personal pronouns are he/him/his.
To summarize, here are some of the things I can do for you:
Find Your Next Home
I'll help you find the right home at the right price for you using the essential criteria you have for your ideal home. I assist buyers find homes on west Florida's barrier islands and beaches from Anna Maria Island off the coast of Bradenton, southward to Manasota Key off the coast off Englewood, encompassing the entire Sarasota and Venice areas (plus areas on the mainland, of course!).
Market Your Home
If you have been thinking about selling or you need to move, you need someone who will advertise your home, show it to prospective buyers, negotiate the purchase contract, assist with arranging financing, oversee the inspections, handle all necessary paperwork and supervise the closing. I can guide you through the entire process, from listing to closing.
Consult on Home Selling Tactics
Home buyers don't visualize living in your home the way you do. I can help you make your home appealing to its ideal audience - which can help you get top dollar. Things like staging the home, pressure-washing the driveway and entry sidewalk, making repairs or minor improvements, packing certain things away (in preparation for your eventual move) or even simply painting some walls can be the difference between a home languishing on the market and one that's sold fast. I use professional photographers, so your listing won't have photos that are blurry or too dark. (Have you seen some of the listings out there?!)
